This is a photo blog: Self-Portrait

Posted on July 27th, 2010 by Tamar.

This month’s assignment for thisisaphotoblog.com was to shoot a self-portrait, inspired by one of the other photographers’ work on TIAPB. This was an incredibly challenging assignment for me! After looking through the websites of ALL the photogs on the site, I chose Jennie Warren as inspiration. Please see below for final product, and click to see the TIAPB entry!

XCVI Resort 2010

Posted on July 21st, 2010 by Tamar.

Last week I posted a behind-the-scenes video from my photoshoot with XCVI for the Resort 2010 line. Now the photos are finished! Milla, XCVI’s illustrator, worked hard to draw a french new wave-inspired setting for each picture. Please see below for some of the photos, and check out XCVI’s website for all the looks in color with info about each piece. XCVI also put together a behind-the-scenes video (which includes my stop-motion video). You can find this video below the photos!

Marty and Elayne

Posted on June 21st, 2010 by Tamar.

My friend Ryan and I have been collaborating on a project about Los Angeles for our photo collective. The Dresden Room is an iconic spot in Los Angeles, and a place we both love to go. If you are in LA and haven’t been there, Marty and Elayne are there performing every single night (excluding Mondays)! They take requests and play such music as Frank Sinatra, Fred Astaire, Dean Martin, among others. It is really a wonderful bar. Please see below for a portrait we photographed of them (click to enlarge).

So many friends are getting married this year! This time I photographed an engagement session for my friend and wonderful makeup artist, Erica. Her and her fiance Benji came over and we drove to an amazing spot near Beachwood Canyon. Here are some of their selects!

I photographed my friends Ashley and Theo the other day for their engagement pics! It was super nice and relaxing to do some natural shots of one of my very best friends. Their wedding is in a few weeks. They are great people and a great set of people!

A few weeks ago I photographed Landon Pigg for Filter’s Ragged Magazine. He is a great musician and everyone had a good time! I will post the spread in a couple weeks when the issue comes out. Until then here are a couple photos I liked that they aren’t using in the mag.

Yule Caise for UCLA Magazine

Posted on June 17th, 2009 by Tamar.

Yule is a writer, director, acting coach, actor, and more. He is so incredibly talented (and also so sweet!). I shot Yule near the Griffith Observatory a couple months ago. He totally didn’t mind hiking a bit in his suit, or the dozen hikers that stared while we worked. Him, Alicia (Art Director for UCLA Magazine), and I had a great time doing this shoot!

Please click to enlarge:

I have also included the retouched and non-retouched versions below. I wanted to get the city lights so I photographed Yule on a tripod as the sun was going down, then photographed the landscape without Yule after the sun went down. In Photoshop I merged the two together.
