I have pairs and pairs of socks from NZ like that. They called them Columbine socks. Girls wear them to keep warm if they are walking around with skirts on. Very cool.

Looks like they waited around for each other… (didn’t know you were allowed to do that in limbo!) Also, wow, so many of them got there as youngsters. 8o
